What your Samsung oven or range is telling you
Applies to Samsung ranges and wall ovens (electric, gas, dual fuel and induction). Some codes are model-specific: the underlined u only appears on induction cooktops, and -dE-/-dC- apply to models with a Flex Duo oven partition.
That code isn’t on this list. It may be specific to your model, so call or text me at (480) 292-4746 with the code and model number.
u (underlined)
Pan detection error on induction cooktops: the cookware isn’t suitable because of its size, material or position, so the pan won’t heat; the element turns off after 1 minute if it isn’t fixed.
Try this first: Use cookware suitable for induction that fits the element and is centered on it.
Induction cooktops only.
Cooktop in use
Self Clean can’t start because one or more cooktop burners or elements are on.
Try this first: Turn off all burners or elements, then start Self Clean.
-dE-
The oven partition (divider) is not installed properly, or cooking was started before the partition was inserted.
Also shown as -dC-
Try this first: Remove the partition and push it fully back in at the third position from the top (electric and dual fuel) or fourth from the top (gas); if no partition is in, make sure nothing is pressing on the partition switch at the back of the oven.
Flex Duo / Twin Mode models.
door
The oven door is not closed.
Try this first: Make sure the door closes all the way, and check that the door plunger switch (a round black cap with a pin that sticks out when the door is open) moves freely when pressed with a finger. If it doesn’t, or the code stays with the door closed, call me.
tESt
The range is in Demo mode; the oven and cooktop won’t heat (gas burners will still ignite).
Also shown as tE5t
Try this first: Turn off Demo mode using the steps in the owner’s manual.
bAd LinE
The range’s power connection is not plugged in properly.
Try this first: Have the power connection checked against the installation manual by a professional installer.
Do not attempt electrical work yourself.
C-10
Can appear during a SmartThings self-diagnosis test if the oven is very cold or very hot at the start; it is not a defect if the oven heats normally.
Try this first: If it appears on its own during normal cooking, try resetting the oven.
Only a concern if it shows outside the diagnosis test.
C-24
The oven temperature is rising faster than normal, usually because the vent at the back of the cooktop is fully or partly blocked.
Try this first: Remove anything covering the vent (such as a pan); open and close the oven door a few times for about 3 seconds each, or turn the oven off and leave the door open for 1 minute to cool.
C-F0
Communication error between electronic components in the range.
Try this first: Turn the range off and back on with the Power button; if it returns, switch off the breaker for 30 seconds and back on. If the code keeps coming back, call me.
For induction models NSI6D*9100, NSI6D*9300 and NSI6D*9500, Samsung offers a firmware fix through SmartThings.
When to call me
If the safe check doesn’t clear the code, or the same code keeps coming back, the oven or range needs a real diagnosis. Error codes point to the system that failed, not always the exact part, so I test before I replace anything.
Never open panels, bypass a safety switch or work on gas or wiring yourself. Unplug the appliance or turn off its breaker if you smell burning or see water near electrical parts.
Upfront pricing
$65
Service call, waived when you approve the repair. You get an exact price before any work starts.
Stacked washer and dryer units have a $125 service call, also waived with the repair.
Where These Codes Come From
I checked every code on this page against Samsung’s own documentation on October 18, 2026, and left out any code I couldn’t confirm there. Meanings can differ between models and model years, so your owner’s manual or the tech sheet inside your oven or range has the final word for your exact model.
