What your Frigidaire oven or range is telling you

Codes from Frigidaire’s range and oven support guides, which apply to electric ranges and cooktops and to wall ovens; gas ranges are not specifically covered. F-code names are short labels from the source, and not every code applies to every model.

That code isn’t on this list. It may be specific to your model, so call or text me at (480) 292-4746 with the code and model number.

F10

Thermal runaway: the oven is detecting higher-than-normal temperatures (a built-in safety alert).

Try this first: Turn the oven off and let it cool before using it again. On ovens with Stone-Baked Pizza, make sure the Pizza Shield and rack are in the position the use & care guide specifies (rack position 7 on many models), then reset and preheat again. If the code persists, call me.

F1

Shorted keypad (touch controls).

Try this first: Reset the appliance by unplugging it (or switching off its circuit breaker) for about 30 seconds, then restoring power; if the code returns, call me.

F12

‘Micro identification’ fault in the electronic control.

Try this first: Reset the appliance by unplugging it (or switching off its circuit breaker) for about 30 seconds, then restoring power; if the code returns, call me.

F13

EEPROM (control memory) failure.

Try this first: Reset the appliance by unplugging it (or switching off its circuit breaker) for about 30 seconds, then restoring power; if the code returns, call me.

The guide page spells it ‘E Prompt Failure’; the individual code article calls it ‘EEPROM Failure’.

F3

Communication error between electronic controls.

Also shown as F20, F26

Try this first: Reset the appliance by unplugging it (or switching off its circuit breaker) for about 30 seconds, then restoring power; if the code returns, call me.

The guide groups F3, F20 and F26 together as communication errors.

Try this first: Reset the appliance by unplugging it (or switching off its circuit breaker) for about 30 seconds, then restoring power; if the code returns, call me.

– (dash)

The cooktop/oven controls are locked (Lock feature on; not a fault).

Also shown as –

Try this first: Press and hold OFF for 6 seconds to cancel the Lock feature.

DEMO MODE

The oven is in demo (showroom) mode and will not heat.

Try this first: Switch the oven’s breaker off for 45 seconds and back on, then go to the settings menu and turn demo mode off.

When to call me

If the safe check doesn’t clear the code, or the same code keeps coming back, the oven or range needs a real diagnosis. Error codes point to the system that failed, not always the exact part, so I test before I replace anything.

Never open panels, bypass a safety switch or work on gas or wiring yourself. Unplug the appliance or turn off its breaker if you smell burning or see water near electrical parts.

Upfront pricing

$65

Service call, waived when you approve the repair. You get an exact price before any work starts.

Stacked washer and dryer units have a $125 service call, also waived with the repair.

Where These Codes Come From

I checked every code on this page against Frigidaire’s own documentation on October 18, 2026, and left out any code I couldn’t confirm there. Meanings can differ between models and model years, so your owner’s manual or the tech sheet inside your oven or range has the final word for your exact model.
