What your Samsung dishwasher is telling you

Applies to Samsung dishwashers with a digital display; models without a display use flashing lights instead. 1E/IE means different things on Waterwall models (clogged filter) and Rotary-arm models (high temperature heater error).

That code isn’t on this list. It may be specific to your model, so call or text me at (480) 292-4746 with the code and model number.

1E

Waterwall models: water isn’t getting through the filter. Rotary models: the temperature inside the dishwasher is too hot.

Also shown as IE

Try this first: Waterwall models: clean the fine filter at the bottom of the dishwasher. Rotary models: switch the dishwasher off at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds and back on, empty it, fill the detergent dispenser and run a Normal cycle.

Meaning depends on whether the model is a Waterwall or Rotary model.

3C

Pump operation error: the pump has failed.

Try this first: Turn the dishwasher off and try starting the cycle again. If the code keeps coming back, call me.

3E

High temperature water supply error: the incoming water is too hot.

Try this first: Make sure the hot water supply is not set above 176°F.

4C

Try this first: Empty the dishwasher, add detergent and run a Normal cycle. If it happens again, switch the dishwasher off at the breaker and call me.

AP

Access Point mode: the dishwasher is ready to connect to a mobile device.

Try this first: If you aren’t trying to connect it, turn the dishwasher off and back on.

bE

Button error: the control panel detects a stuck button.

Also shown as 6E

Try this first: Turn the dishwasher off and touch every button on the panel. If the code keeps coming back, call me.

Try this first: Switch the dishwasher off at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds and back on, empty it, fill the detergent dispenser and run a Normal cycle. If the code keeps coming back, call me.

HE

Heater error: the temperature inside the dishwasher is being detected incorrectly.

Try this first: Empty the dishwasher, add detergent and run a Normal cycle. If it happens again, switch the dishwasher off at the breaker and call me.

LC

Leakage error: the leak sensor detects moisture; the dishwasher turns itself on and keeps trying to drain the water away.

Also shown as LE

On Waterwall models it can also mean the water reflector is blocked.

Try this first: Empty the dishwasher, add detergent and run a half load cycle. If it happens again, switch the dishwasher off at the breaker and call me.

When to call me

If the safe check doesn’t clear the code, or the same code keeps coming back, the dishwasher needs a real diagnosis. Error codes point to the system that failed, not always the exact part, so I test before I replace anything.

Never open panels, bypass a safety switch or work on gas or wiring yourself. Unplug the appliance or turn off its breaker if you smell burning or see water near electrical parts.

Where These Codes Come From

I checked every code on this page against Samsung’s own documentation on October 18, 2026, and left out any code I couldn’t confirm there. Meanings can differ between models and model years, so your owner’s manual or the tech sheet inside your dishwasher has the final word for your exact model.
